課程概述 |

都市人類學由來已久，但卻難以定位。我們目前所理解的「都市」，隨著現代化與工業化過程，快速擴展成為當前全世界多數人口的居住型態。然而，人類學的學科背景，預設了其田野場域的前現代/前工業特質，因而局限了人類學者研究當代世界的揮灑空間。在全球化的時代，上述預設已無法成立，但如何一方面繼續傳統人類學的方法與知識，另方面發展出新的概念工具以理解我們研究對象經歷巨大政經變遷的生活事實，仍是這門學科的艱鉅挑戰。美國人類學者Setha Low曾說，人類學對於都市研究的貢獻，在於提供一個充滿辯證與複雜度的故事，描繪都市居民、街坊鄰里、與次文化群體如何在鉅觀的政治經濟變化中，創造具個人意義的日常現實並重新宣稱他們的地方。在這學期中，我們將透過閱讀與實作，與不同世代的人類學者一起模索各種貼近都市經驗的研究取徑，期能對「何為宜居城市」的論題，提出深刻的思索。 |

掌握都市人類學的主要文獻，了解都市經驗的跨文化差異，思索當代都市面對的社會議題。 |

課程要求 |
每週的閱讀與討論：閱讀文本均會上傳至COOL課程平台，請同學在上課之前仔細閱讀該週文本，提出疑問。課堂先由教師講授，接著就閱讀文本提出各式討論問題，請修課同學積極參與課堂討論。
